Note: I first posted this on my old blog site on September 28, 2008 Thursday. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and "try and try again until you succeed" these are the common thoughts that are familiar to us. The latter is true to some but to others are not. In this article I will only tackle the pageant winners of Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth and Miss International who, in one time or another, competed in other pageants prior to their victories:
* 1971 Miss Universe Georgina Rizk (Lebanon) competed at the 1970 Miss World.
* 1973 Miss Universe Amparo Munoz (Spain) is a 1st runner-up at the 1973 Miss Europe.
* 1989 Miss Universe Angela Visser (Holland) competed at the 1988 Miss World.
* 1992 Miss Universe Michelle McLean (Namibia) is a 4th runner-up at the 1991 Miss World.
* 1993 Miss Universe Dayanara Torres (Puerto Rico) is a semi-finalist at the 1992 Miss International & 1st runner up at the 1992 Queen of the World.
* 1999 Mpule Kwelagobe (Botswana) competed at the 1997 Miss World.
* 2005 Miss Universe Natalie Glebova (Canada) is a 2nd runner-up at the 2004 Miss Maja World/Miss Maja Mundial
MISS WORLD
* 1955 Miss World Sussana Zubullaga (Venezuela) is a semi-finalist at the 1955 Miss Universe.
* 1957 Miss World Marita Lindahl (Finland) is a 1st runner-up and Miss Photogenic at the 1957 Miss Europe.
* 1959 Miss World Corinne Rottschaffer (Holland) is a semi-finalist at the 1958 Miss Universe & winner Miss Europe 1957.
* 1961 Miss World Rosemarie Frankland (United Kingdom) is a 1st runner-up at the 1961 Miss Universe.
* 1962 Miss World Catharina Johanna Lodders (Holland) is a 3rd runner-up in Miss Europe 1962 and 3rd runner-up in Miss International 1962.
* 1967 Miss World Madeleine Hartog-Bel Houghton (Peru) is a semi-finalist at the 1966 Miss Universe
* 1969 Miss World Eva Rueber-Staier (Austria) is a semi-finalist at the 1969 Miss Universe.
* 1974 Miss World Helen Morgan is a 1st runner-up at the 1974 Miss Universe.
* 1980 Miss World Gina Swainson (Bermuda) is a 1st runner-up at the 1980 Miss Universe.
* 1989 Miss World Aneta-Beata Kreglicka is a 1st runner-up at the 1989 Miss International.
* 2001 Miss World Agbani Darego (Nigeria) is a semi-finalist at the 2001 Miss Universe.
MISS EARTH
* 2003 Miss Earth Dania Patricia Prince Mendez (Honduras) competed at the 1998 Miss Universe.
MISS INTERNATIONAL
* 1960 Miss International Stella Marquez (Colombia) is a semi-finalist at the 1960 Miss Universe.
* 1963 Miss International Gudrun Bjarnadottir (Iceland) competed at the 1962 Miss Europe.
* 1973 Miss International Tuula Anneli Bjorkling (Finland) is a 6th placed at the 1972 Miss World.
* 1974 Miss International Karen Brucene Smith (USA) is a Top 7 at the 1971 Miss World.
* 1975 Miss International Ladija Vera Manic (Yugoslavia) competed at the 1975 Miss Universe.
* 1976 Miss International Sophie Perrin (France) competed at the 1975 Miss World & 1975 Miss Universe.
* 1984 Miss International Ilma Julieta Urrutia (Guatemala) is a semi-finalist at the 1984 Miss Universe.
* 1987 Miss International Laurie Simpson (Puerto Rico) is a 4th runner-up at the 1987 Miss Universe.
* 1995 Miss International Anne Lena Hansen (Norway) competed at the 1994 Miss World.
* 1998 Miss International Lia Victoria Borrero (Panama) is a Top 10 at the 1997 Miss Universe.
* 2002 Miss International Christina Sawaya (Lebanon) competed at the 2001 Miss World.
* 2003 Miss International Goizeder Victoria Azua Barrios (Venezuela) is a Top 10 at the 2002 Miss World.
* 2007 Miss International Silvia Priscila Perales Elizondo (Mexico) is a Top 10 at the 2006 Miss Universe.
